Booking terms & conditions

These terms apply to all stays, day visits, events, and group bookings at Magoroto Forest Estate. By confirming a booking — online, by phone, by WhatsApp, or at the gate — you agree to them on behalf of everyone in your party.

1. Booking and payment

  • A booking is confirmed once we receive a deposit of 50% of the total booking value. Until then, dates and units are not guaranteed.
  • The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days before arrival. For group bookings, the balance is due 14 days before arrival.
  • Bookings made online through magoroto.com are paid in full at the time of booking unless we agree otherwise in writing.
  • Tanzanian residents pay in Tanzanian Shillings (TZS); non-residents pay in US Dollars (USD). Every sale is issued with a TRA electronic fiscal receipt.

2. Cancellation and no-show

  • Cancelled 21–15 days before arrival: 25% of the total booking value is charged.
  • Cancelled 14–8 days before arrival: 50% of the total booking value is charged.
  • Cancelled 7–0 days before arrival, or no-show: 100% of the total booking value is charged.
  • Any refund due is returned by the same payment method used to pay, within 14 days of the cancellation.
  • We may move your booking to alternative dates free of charge where availability allows — contact us as early as possible.
  • If we must cancel your booking (for example, severe weather making the estate unsafe, or a required closure), you choose either a full refund or new dates.

3. Arrival, departure, and day visits

  • Check-in is from 11:00. Check-out is by 10:00.
  • Day visitors are welcome from 08:00 to 18:00.
  • Please carry the booking pass (QR code) we send by WhatsApp or email — the gate team scans it on arrival.
  • A valid ID (NIDA or passport) may be requested at check-in.

4. Meals, drinks, and house rules

  • Outside drinks and meals are strictly not allowed on the estate.
  • Groups of 10 or more are served buffet-style.
  • Rates include the standard activities listed on the rate card; premium activities (for example ziplining, quad bikes) are charged separately.
  • Children aged 5–12 are charged 50% of the adult rate; children under 5 stay free.
  • Quiet hours, fire-safety instructions, and staff directions must be respected at all times.

5. Activities, safety, and your responsibility

  • Magoroto Forest Estate is a natural forest environment with open water, uneven terrain, wildlife, and physical activities (including hiking, swimming, boating, ziplining, and cycling). Taking part in any activity is voluntary and at your own risk.
  • You are responsible for assessing your own fitness and ability before taking part in any activity, and for following all safety briefings, signage, and staff instructions.
  • Guests who choose to consume alcohol do so at their own risk. We may refuse access to activities (including swimming, boating, and ziplining) to any guest who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or other substances, without refund.
  • Children and toddlers must be supervised by an adult at all times, including at the water, on trails, and during activities.
  • To the extent permitted by the laws of Tanzania, Magoroto Forest Estate and Amboni Sisal Properties Ltd are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from a guest’s own conduct, intoxication, failure to follow instructions, or voluntary participation in activities. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Tanzanian law.
  • We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings and vehicles beyond what the law requires. Please keep valuables secure.
  • Guests are responsible for damage they cause to units, equipment, or estate property beyond normal wear and tear, and will be charged the reasonable cost of repair or replacement.

6. General

  • We may update these terms from time to time; the version published at magoroto.com/terms at the time of your booking applies.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
